i think that this might be because it wasn’t “hard” wax. but i’d never seen that before, like it seemed like the hair was basically pulled out but the root or something was left.
#UNIK WAX UPPER EAST SIDE SKIN#
they weren’t stubble because they were basically completely level with the skin, u could only really feel them if you pressed/rubbed the skin directly on them. but right after the wax I saw that on that outer area, there were these dots of hair kind of. but surprisingly the part that wasn’t amazing was on the “mons pubis.” I’ve almost never had issues with hair being left there, it’s normally waxers not being thorough on the inside or being afraid to go near sensitive areas. which is usually the hardest part so I was impressed (as was BF who said it was “perfect” and “couldn’t taste a single hair” the next day 🤓). the “inside” part of the wax was fantastic.
#UNIK WAX UPPER EAST SIDE PLUS#
and at first I really took that as a plus (I said in my original post that I don’t care about how comfortable it is but it was nice to have some relief there), but I think that’s what contributed to my main complaint. I definitely noticed that the wax itself felt very good, it was verrrry smooth/soft compared to EWC which uses hard wax. The brazilian really was pretty good i’m just so insanely picky about this. The leg honestly wasn’t great, I noticed some patches of hair left behind right after the wax (I did try to check before I left but it can be hard to do that thoroughly) and also had some hair start regrowing very quickly after the wax.
#UNIK WAX UPPER EAST SIDE FULL#
I got a brazilian and also did full leg and underarm (if it’s your first time they let you pick a free wax out of a couple options and one was underarm). She was incredibly nice and did give a good wax in the grand scheme of things. TLDR better than the average waxer (esp in some classically challenging areas) but not thorough enough for my standards and “technical” skills weren’t great. Hey so sorry for the delayed response!! it went ok but i can’t give my 100% endorsement I think. I put a full review in a reply below (very long but has a tldr) Does anyone have a place/person they love? I’d ideally prefer Manhattan but I’m open to going further afield for a great experience!Įdit 1: The first person I tried was Mira at Uni K Wax in Columbus Circle. My hair comes up easily and my skin doesn’t have any specific sensitivities, so i’m surprised at how often I find patchiness after a wax.

I have a pretty high pain tolerance and don’t care about the personality of the waxer, I just want someone incredibly meticulous and thorough who won’t leave any random hairs. I mostly base my research on reviews (Yelp/Google), but i’ve found that most people are reviewing based on how painful the waxer is or their bedside manner, rather than how good the actual wax was. I’ve jumped around to several different locations, having learned that it’s possible to find a good waxer but very easy to find a bad one. I’ve mostly used European Wax Center throughout that time.

I’m a lifelong New Yorker and have been waxing for about four years.
